‘3 Idiots’ is an Indian comedy- drama film which was published in 2009. Successfully directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopa. The movie is based on a novel ‘Five Point Someone’ by Chetan Nhagat, which deals with the lives of the three friends; they feel proud of studying at one of the best engineering college in India, ICE. However, the reality deflates their feeling as soon as they realise how stubborn and dictatorial the old education system of the collage is. Excellent acting of Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Mafdh Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Boman Irani have brought the movie to the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in overseas markets.

The movie was born in time that ‘The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education’ of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009. To summarize, the beautiful story telling about three young ambitious students who have their own dream to chase. They are studying at the prestigious Imperial College of Engineering (ICE), one of the best colleges at this time. For different reason, Farhan Qureshi (R.Madhavan) has passion for wildlife photography but he had given it up because of his father’s command. Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi) chose engineering degree with an effort of changing financial problem of his family. The final one is Rancho Shamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan) who is interested in inventing and discovering robotics. He is the one who realises that the ICE at this time works like a factory which is producing robots not genius. Most of students in this education system are taught how to learn by heart all theory not to learn how to practise or create new invention. Furthermore, the Director of ICE Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe ( Boman Irani ) , known as “Virus”, who is stubborn and dictatorial person has built up strict rules that forcers all students have to follow. He believes that “Compete or die, life is a race” which means students with no good graduation will have no chance to get job. Students have to join mark race to get the best grade. In addition, without supporting and encouraging students in their creativity but giving pressure from work which leads to suicide of a lot of students at this time and Joy is one of those victims. When Rancho showed Dr. Viru that “India ranks 1st in suicide, every 90 minutes, a student attempts suicide, Suicide is a bigger killer than disease”. This is an attempt of changing an old teaching method. However, this is bluntly ignored by Br.Viru.

The star student represents for typical production of this old- frantic education system at this time is Chatur Ramalingam (Omi Vaidya). He has an incredible brain of memorisation and once he tried to impress his professors by giving a speech in Hindi for Teacher’s Day. He memorized all contain and repeat exactly without knowing that Rancho had replaced his speech. This one again proves that how ironic education teaching of ICE works. Meanwhile, Rancho falls in love with Pia (Kareena Kapoor), Viru’s younger daughter. He helped her realising her fiancé.

The movie is very impressive and outstanding with funny and crazy scenes, they excellently shows a revolution of an education.
